The Fraunhofer IML offers innovative research-, development-, engineering-, and consulting services for businesses in various branches. Since eight years, the openID-center provides the Fraunhofer IML with an open development and testing platform for RFID technologies in realistic logistical environments. By using supply-chain-based machines, the use of different RFID components for automated material flow is tested under real circumstances.

Besides the testing and the implementation of RFID hardware, there is also the focus on software in research and development when it comes to industry projects. Recently, an automated testing device offers highly significant performance measurements. The openID-center of today is the outcome of the correspondent research project.
